Open House : Launceston Town Hall

18 - 28 St John Street

The neo-classical Town Hall built in the 1860s is now home to the City of Launceston council and chambers. Said to be designed by Peter Mills, a prolific Launceston architect, it is rumoured that he only came on board once the drawings were already complete. The building holds a rich tapestry of Launceston’s history, and has seen numerous building additions, as well as a fire. Find out more about this iconic building from staff who know all the ins-and-outs, along with stories from aldermen, who will be accompanying tours.
