Donations Will Be Doubled For Junction Arts FestivalApril 17 2015
Junction Arts Festival has been awarded a matched funding grant by Creative Partnerships Australia through its Plus 1 program. The program will match all donations dollar-for-dollar to the Festival and developmental arts organisation up to the value of $50,000 until May 20, 2015.
Celebrating its fifth birthday this year, Junction Arts Festival is appealing to the local Launceston and Tasmanian business community, arts lovers and Festival patrons from Tasmania and further afield to donate to this fundraising campaign.
The funds raised will ensure Junction continues to grow and expand their capacity as a developmental arts organisation and annual Festival, contributing to Tasmania’s thriving arts and events landscape.
Alongside supporting the arts festival, funds will support the creation of new performances and events that are created specifically for Launceston by international, national and local artists and with the Launceston community. The funds will also assist reactivating disused spaces, enlivening the city, providing mentoring and training opportunities for young people and expanding learning outcomes for schools and children.
Junction’s vision is to be a hub for creativity and innovation in Launceston that adds vibrancy to the city and enhances quality of life and liveability, supports community development, attracts visitors to the state and contributes to economic growth long term.
Executive Director Natalie De Vito said: “We’re thrilled with what we’ve been able to realise so far as a small experimental arts Festival in regional Tasmania. We’ve received tremendous support from the local community, artists, community participants and audiences who have trusted us to take them on adventures in Launceston. We‘re looking forward to new adventures over the next five years.”
Board President Steve Henty said: “Junction is powered by the generous contributions of government funders, corporate partners, local businesses, individuals and volunteers who, over the past five years have helped create a unique and vibrant cultural event in Launceston and Tasmania. We’ve been very fortunate, and moving forward, support is vital as we grow.”
