Isla Ka at the Fountain Bar
ISLA KA is Tasmanian musician Frankie Andrew, who’s been a regular in the music scene for some years now, in various incarnations.
Andrew has a shy, unassuming demeanour that gives way to a relaxed warmth and a voice that packs a punch in just the right moments. Praised for her lyrical finesse and honest, heartfelt deliverance, a set from Andrew is well worth watching.
Since making the change to ISLA KA in 2014 with her third release, a digital 3-track recorded at home in Melbourne (the previous two were released in 2010 & 2012 under Frankie Andrew), Andrew has been experimenting with nylon, electrics and new collaborations.
Andrew is currently based in Launceston and has just begun recording a debut album. Stay tuned for news of its fruition and to catch her at Junction, head to the Fountain Bar on Thursday afternoon.
