Wild Willow Café

Wild Willow newBasket Makers of Tasmania (TAS)

Back by popular demand, the Wild Willow Café is a fully functioning café made entirely of furniture created from Wild Willow Tree branches, and produced through a series of workshops across Tasmania as part of the Festival.

A relaxing environment to eat and meet, the Wild Willow Café is open to the public, Festival artists and participants. Enjoy coffee or lunch made fresh by local restaurant Fresh on Charles, listen to some up and coming singer-songwriters, and hang out at the festival hub. The Junc Room bands and musicians have been known to rock up and rock out unplugged.

The White Box Experiment

The White Box Experiment

Manic Productions (Launceston, TAS)

The White Box Experiment is an invention of the Junction Arts Festival and Manic Productions. It invites local Launceston artists and painters, Vika Emma Fifita, Josh Foley, Peter McGeachy and Peter Sly, along with Castlemaine artist Helen Kelly to create an experimental laboratory and relaxed environment that both mimics and plays with traditional notions of the artist’s studio. Visit the artists often over the course of the Festival to watch their paintings, drawings, collage and a live soundscape evolve from their empty white box.
Join us on Sunday for the Opening Party/Finissage.

Inflatable Whale

Inflatable Whale

Mark Cuthbertson (Inverleigh, VIC)

The waters off the coast of Portland in Western Victoria have become the winter nursery for hundreds of blue whales, the largest living creature ever to inhabit the planet. Inflatable artist Mark Cuthbertson worked with members of the Portland community to create this full sized inflatable whale: a 27-metre behemoth. Visit with friends and family and appreciate the stunning size of these magnificent creatures. The Junction Arts Festival presents the Inflatable Whale in several locations around the CBD over the course of the Festival.
